Attending the ISS Trade Show in Long Beach is always a great opportunity to explore new trends and technologies in apparel decoration for my business. But this year, with so many in Los Angeles affected by the recent fires, it also became an opportunity to ask for support. This year, I reached out to exhibitors to see if any would be willing to donate left over apparel for those in need—and Grimco went above and beyond.⁠
⁠
Not only did they donate over 120 t-shirts and hoodies to LumenSparQ for fire relief efforts, but they also shared their personal connection to the cause. One team member’s partner is a first responder, making this donation even more meaningful.⁠
⁠
Huge thanks to Grimco, a woman-owned business with a strong philanthropic mission, for stepping up in such a big way. This is just one piece of the incredible community effort working to restore a sense of normalcy for Angelenos.⁠

Today, we had the privilege of volunteering with Safe Place for Youth (SPY) as they temporarily transform their Access Center into a distribution hub for fire relief efforts. From sorting and organizing clothing to packing essentials for those in need, every small action added up to something greater.⁠
⁠
💪 It’s easy to feel helpless in times of crisis, but lending a hand in a coordinated effort like this is a tangible way to make a difference. Volunteer slots are open through February 7th—join in and be a part of the impact! ⁠

In the wake of the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires, many of us have felt that sense of helplessness—wanting to take action but unsure where to start. Sometimes, the best way forward is to join forces with established organizations that have the networks and resources to make a bigger impact.⁠

Recently, we took a small, meaningful step: preparing sandwiches and assembling lunch bags for those in need. These packages were then handed off to Da Vinci Schools, who worked with Pass It Forward and Impact LA to ensure the goods reached affected communities.⁠

This experience reminded us of the power of collaboration. By pooling efforts, even modest contributions can add up to meaningful change. On Saturday, we joined the St. Margaret’s Center Winter Event at Lennox Middle School, where over 500 families were served with holiday cheer, gifts, and joy. 🎅🎁⁠

Our LumenSparQ volunteers had the privilege of welcoming families and supervising the amazing play area, filled with activities like face painting, ornament making, LEGO building, and even a live DJ! 🎨🧱🎶⁠

Today, LumenSparQ had the honor of volunteering with @FarmlinkProject at an inspiring food distribution event at Morningside High School in Inglewood! This incredible effort was made possible through the collaboration of @SocialJusticeLearningInstitute, @SupportAndFeed, and Farmlink, with nearly 80 volunteers coming together to make a difference.⁠
⁠
From the early morning setup at 7 AM to serving over 500 families, it was a day filled with teamwork and joy. We helped distribute boxes brimming with fresh produce like pineapples, melons, jicama, and more. Alongside the food, families received personal care items, showing how small acts can ripple into big impacts.⁠

In CLUES TO THE UNIVERSE, it's 1984 and seventh-grader Ro is into outer space, rocket science, NASA, and physics. Also in seventh grade, Benji is into space but through comic books, drawing space aliens, and inventing his own space opera universe. Quickly becoming friends, they agree to help each other.⁠
