Some connections begin with a single classroom request.
LumenSparQ first came across Mrs. Silvia Corcuera on DonorsChoose, where she was seeking support for her students at Mark Twain Middle School. That request brought us to Mark Twain and led to our recent Chromebook donation to the school.
When we dropped off the Chromebooks, we shared how we had first found the school: through Mrs. Corcuera and her request. The school made sure 30 of those Chromebooks went to her classroom.
She teaches Spanish and Math Intervention, and she wrote to us soon after they arrived. She called it a surprise.
“Having these Chromebooks will make such a difference for my students,” she shared. “I’m so excited to be able to give them more opportunities to learn, practice, and explore using technology.”
She also wrote something that stayed with us.
“It’s wonderful to know that there are people and organizations like yours making a difference in public education.”
The same could be said of her. Teachers like Mrs. Corcuera are the ones who notice what their students need and go looking for it, one request at a time. We are grateful to Mark Twain Middle School for putting the devices in her students’ hands, and to Mrs. Corcuera for the request that started it all.
It started with one teacher’s request. It ended back in her classroom.
